Update: U.S. orders over $800? Everything’s running smoothly again
🟢 UPDATE April 28th
Following talks between DHL and U.S. authorities, informal entry processing has been reinstated for shipments valued between $800–$2,500. This means faster clearance, fewer paperwork requirements, and reduced delays—though minor backlogs may still occur.
🔴 Old Notice: New U.S. Customs Rules Affecting Orders Over $800
Starting April 5, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has implemented new rules requiring formal customs processing for all shipments valued over $800. This is a significant change from the previous $2,500 threshold and may result in longer delivery times and added import fees.
In addition, many goods imported from the European Union are now subject to a 10% U.S. tariff, which may further increase the total cost of orders exceeding the $800 limit.
According to DHL, this new regulation means that affected shipments must include additional documentation.
